Super Flattering is here. And how.

On June 11, we launched our first issue. With champagne, St. Louis-cut ribs, guests who stayed until midnight, and questions everyone could answer in their own way.

The Amia Neo-Brasserie was supposed to close at 11 p.m., but it ended up staying open much longer. The reason ? One more glass of champagne, one more spoonful of chamomile crème brûlée, one more conversation that you didn’t want to end. And an atmosphere that felt like the party days at CBK. Outside, it was Zurich, inside, around thirty people from the lifestyle world, wonderfully connected, even though most of them had never met before. That’s how good evenings go.

On the tables, there were small cards with Super Flattering questions. Not like speed dating, where you want to get information from the other person, such as ‘What do you do?’, or ‘What brand do you work for?’, but rather questions like ‘Beauty is …’, or ‘What do you wear to fall in love with yourself again?’

The questions on the cards are the same ones Irène Schäppi, our journalist, asked 63 people over the past few months for the Super Flattering Index. Entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, activists. Each with their own vision of beauty. The result? The article “Beauty 2026” in our first issue, and a term for the paradox many will recognise: the Beauty Gap.

That evening, the questions were asked again, this time without a recording device, but with a glass of champagne or a beer in hand.

Beauty is …

No one said the same thing. Not a single answer mentioned ‘perfection’.

Rashunda Tramble: ‘Beauty encompasses everything.’

Micha Freutel: ‘Beauty is liveliness.’

Raphaela Pichler: ‘Beauty is freedom and joy.’

What do you wear to fall in love with yourself again?

‘Jeans’, was one answer.

Someone else said: ‘Nothing.’

No joke, an answer that couldn’t be more authentic.

The next day, we were all exhausted, yet giggling like teenagers in love, while our phones kept vibrating: Instagram was going through the roof with messages, comments, feedback on the magazine and our launch event.

‘The magazine is such a pleasure to read’, Nora Kato told us via LinkedIn. And messages kept coming via DM : ‘Such a nice evening.’ ‘It was lovely.’ or ‘Can’t wait to read this.’

Super Flattering Edition No. 01 is now available in selected boutiques and at superflattering.com.
